Everything can be toggled on or off during boot. A startup menu complete with autoexec to load all drivers as you desire, or leave them out to save ram. A modified version of the PC-Dos modified to run as a MS-Dos, this i'd like to replace at some point but its significantly smaller than the MS-Dos 7.1 version and this project is all about packing more tools on a floppy than you ever imagined would fit without sacrificing functionality. It remains full compatibility with MS-Dos 7.1, but with the extra features and fixes. It boots from floppy, it can install to the HDD, it supports Windows 3.11 despite being MS-Dos 7.1, and it does not have a built in Windows 98 logo to safe a lot of space. A heavily modified MS-Dos kernel, both with tweaks by me and by the original release of CDU.

After a long time wait (and a long time waiting to see if Michael gives me the green light on this forum) I have decided to publicly release my DOS distribution called Ultimate DOS 7.1, what started as a way to get DOS on a HP T5710 thin client and some tweaking to the MS-DOS Super Easy files from PhilsComputerLab evolved into a full distribution that has been built upon MS-Dos 7.1 from the publicly availible CDU release.īut do not be fooled, this is NOT your average DOS diskette, most of the tools here are modified in some form or another, resulting in a MS-Dos distribution that fits on a single floppy WITHOUT ramdisks and with better compatibility with modern systems!
